Here’s what I’m going to do.

I will photograph a diverse range of female volunteers from across the UK construction industries.

Participants will be:

  • from all age ranges

  • from all ethnicities

  • with varying amounts of experience

  • from all levels of the hierarchy

  • from all quarters of the industry

Each participant will provide a short profile about themselves, along with business contact details.

Photograph

I will produce an online exhibition of everyone that has been photographed. This will be available on this website.

I will also produce a physical exhibition of printed photographs, curated from the overall group.

This event will take place later in May 2023 at the Building Centre in London. It will double as a wider launch event for SHE BUILDS UK, with guest speakers and a chance to meet the various participants and project stakeholders.

Exhibit

Although this is my project, my idea and my photographs, I’m clear that it’s less about me as an individual and more about what I can do to address a very real problem.

I don’t want to exhibit photographs and then walk away.

At the very least, I want the project to be used as a conduit from which conversations take place, questions get asked and plans get made.

My project partners and I are already looking into ideas for what happens after the exhibition and it’s this aspect that excites me the most.
