Susie Morris

ARCHITECT & DIRECTOR

PROSPETTI

I moved to Manchester in 2000 to study architecture at the Manchester School of Architecture, a school currently rated 7th in the world.

After completing two degrees, I stayed in Manchester to work in practice where I qualified as an architect in 2009. Since then I have worked my way up in a large design-led firm, moved to a smaller practice for a year and then set up my own architectural practice with a fellow female architect.

I was attracted to the industry because Iā€™d always had an interest in the buildings and spaces around me. I originally wanted to be a theatre and film set designer but was put off at 17 when I went to meet one who was very negative about the profession.

My key skills are practical problem solving, being approachable and being thorough.

My advice to someone considering joining the industry in an architecture role would be to ask yourself how passionate you are about architectural design. It can be a rewarding, but challenging career and so drive and passion for design can often be the thing that keeps you focused.

An interesting fact about me is that I grew up on a farm!
