PROJECT MANAGER

WATES CONSTRUCTION

I have worked in the construction industry for 10 years having studied Civil Engineering MEng at university. I have worked on a wide range of projects, from large scale pharmaceuticals to high rise residential apartments.

My key skills include logical problem-solving, technical details, strong communication skills and team-building. And working on large, challenging and fast-paced projects like I do, has allowed me to develop greater technical and core skills, too.

Last year being nominated as a finalist for the Women In Construction & Engineering Awards, and meeting all the other women involved, was so energising and showed how positive the future of construction is and why we should be promoting women into it.

I really enjoy the dynamic, ever-evolving nature of the industry. Every day has a different challenge to solve and there are lots of opportunities to meet and work in a variety of teams.

Also, it’s not all hard hats and high vis vests! From design, sustainability and engineering, to surveying and operations, there will be a role that suits you with an opportunity to have a versatile career.

If you want to join the construction industry, don’t be afraid to speak up and be confident! Diversity in teams is so important to having new ideas, creating a positive work culture and ultimately delivering successful projects.

In my spare time I’m learning to scuba dive!
