URBAN DESIGNER

MACE

I made my way into the construction industry through a roundabout route, as I never really considered it 'for me' when I was at school, despite loving all things design and working with my hands.

I'd always been interested in the how people interact with their environments, so completed a degree in Geography before landing a job working in Public Transport Analysis.

I started to realise it wasn't what I felt happy doing, and moved into an entry level job working in Graphics and Masterplanning for an Environmental Planning Consultancy. Here, I learnt key skills on the job and worked my way up whilst completing a part-time diploma in the evenings. I'm now a very happy fully qualified Urban Designer working in the Construction Industry and get to draw and design new environments every day.

You don't have to do a Maths or Engineering degree to work in the Construction, and you're never too late or too unqualified to begin a journey into the industry!
