Growing up in the Philippines, my Dad would always point out the buildings he built which inspired me to work in construction; I aspire to do the same around my future family and build structures that would improve people’s lives. Being a woman of colour in a predominantly male industry isn’t easy, as you may hear that you’re just a 'tick in the box' to achieve the diversity numbers, which isn’t right. I believe that as long as you enjoy the work and you have confidence in your abilities, you can provide unique perspectives to any job and empower others.
